Cleopatra and The religious sex customs of ancient Egypt.

Cleopatra was the first Greek who knows the Egyptian language and only Queen who became the head priestess of the goddess. Here I wish to remained my readers that Cleopatra dressed as the high priestess of the Aset before Marc Anthony (and not dressed as Aphrohite wrongly  recorded by  most historian)
Cleopatra was loved by the Egyptian not only for her beauty but also for her sexuality. On one occasion Cleopatra is recorded as having performed fellatio on (sucked the cocks) one hundred Roman nobles in one night. The Egyptians not only accepted this but also highly praised that. To become a high priestess of Aset the women first have to sex with at least one thousand different men (here I wish to emphasize

In ancient Egypt sex is the core of the religion. It was the priestess to do its sacred sexual rituals that distinguished their Goddess religion from other forms of feminine worship. In the temples of The Goddess priestesses would conduct sexual rituals for the cleansing of men and the fertility of the property
In Egyptian language negation meant semen or the male essence (in modern language means negative) in their religion “ritual of negation means the vaginal intercourse with the priestess. During that ritual he ejaculates his semen inside the vagina of the priestess in order to wipe out or negate his sins.

It is the priestess who intercedes on man’s behalf of with Goddess. According to their belief she is the mother of his spiritual life she is the guide in his death and she leads the soul to the Underworld, and she prepares the soul for the rebirth again. Their religion gives spiritual knowledge, love, sex and pleasure isn’t it?

The Pagan Goddess and Gods

Egypt was a land of many people; those came from different parts of the world for better life was the melting pot of the ancient world civilization. As the people were of different region they brought with them their own traditions, religions cultures and sentiments.

Here I wish to point out few things to my readers; here I am talking about the Egypt of more than two thousand years ago, Present Egypt was conquered by Arabs just three decades ago and was inhabited by them but still a few native Egyptians are left in the world today (they were the descendants of the Tamari – the people of Mari who were the original Egyptians).

For more than three millenniums, the religion of Isis and Hathor otherwise known as The PaganGoddess and Gods was prospered in Egypt, until the Christians entered there. Isis was
Triple Goddess connotation in one being. She is the goddess of Manifestation, nature, law, ethics, love and magic. Isis governs the forces of Creation. Her name means 'throne'. She is the source of all creative power.  She gives form to the formless.

The Christians destroyed the last temples of the Goddess Isis in the 5th century. Even few priests escaped and kept in secret of their religion for the sixty generation of priests. Even now also some Egyptians are practicing their religion in hidden, to escape from the strict laws of Islamic justice.
The teachings of their religion are sex positive. That was very new in the time of sex domination and guilt. Their Goddess taught the path way to divine is sex.

Most of the present day religions cannot answer these following questions:
Where did I come from to this world?
Why I am here on the earth?
Where do I go after death?

But this religion of Goddess has the answer with it. The purification rituals of them were the rituals of psycho pomp and of divine sexual. They strongly believe that sex was given by the goddess for both women and men to enjoy the life and sex are the creative power of the universe. They believe Sex as principle by which soul are conducted to and from the world of spirits.

Erotic Sculptures And Indian Temples

In India one can view erotic carvings in almost all the temples in India, most particularly those of Khajuraho and Konark; clearly indicates that every human being is amorous and deeply fascinated by sexual desire.  Most of the other religious people raise questions in this matter, and doubted the need for these erotic sculptures in the temples?

Our religion has a high value on ascetic ideal and intrinsic worth of celibacy. There is a whole mythology around semen, male and female genital organs. In the Hindu presumption of sublimation, if the semen is retained within the male body himself, it can be transformed into a source of creativity and religious supremacy.

There are different opinions on why temples were decorated with sexually explicit sculptures. Some people says that the old kings lived in obscene luxury and the used these for thrill and some people argues it was part of sexual instruction in ancient India and few more argue Just like the Romans, ancient Indians could be or were ever as stanch in their pursuit of pleasure. Before concluding we have to see the historical background also.
In the mediaeval period monastic Buddhism was prevalent and the people were  losing interest in the married house hold life, and hence the temple were built with erotic sculptures and attract the people towards sex and family life to renovate Hinduism.

What was the necessity to decorate a temple with erotic sculpture?  If one observes the worldly thoughts of Hinduism; there is nothing unnatural about them. Isn’t it?

The History Mystery: The religious sex customs of ancient world

Throughout the history the religion of the goddess was practiced and is always of positive sex. Let us start with the most famous sacred marriage ritual or else called Hieros Gamos.  Around five thousand years before this rituals were most famous one in Sumerian. The chief priest is considered as the substitute of the God and treated as Goddess. The ruler had to sex with the Goddess to show the people the acceptance of the god as ruler and guardian of her people. This act indirectly shows that the high priest is the supreme authority of the people.  Inanna is the goddess of love sex and warfare. Here is part of the ceremony Scared Marriage (or Scared prostitution) described below:

The high priest act in the place of Inanna and she order for everything to be readied. And the bed was set up in front of entire public. The people watch the entire rituals including the sexual activity. At the end of the ceremony the entire public would shout cheerfully to show their approval and happiness. As they that this scared marriage brought prosperity to the people and to their land so they witness its successful climax.

In Egypt, the things are quite different as that of Sumerian; the Egyptian enjoyed the sex to the fullest satisfaction not only in their life time but also in the eternal life. Yes they believed in enjoying sex after the death. The false pennies and nipples found with the mummies give the proof for that. They also believed in getting children after the death (the fertility dolls with broad hip and paddle dolls with wide pubic area found with the mummies gives the proof for that).

If any knight wants to be a Pharaoh, he had to marry his half sister who must be a royal princess that was the custom of that time in Egypt.

Interestingly in Rome, marriage was unbinding license for sexual catharsis. But that meant for only the elite, Royal citizens and the common public don’t have the right to marry.

History Mystery :The Vulva Rock Cuts

You may think I am writing about an obscene topic or obscene word but not so, the word cunt or valva is a mythical word in the ancient times. In A dictionary of Slang, Eric Patridge notes that cunt was once part of the Standard English but after 15th century this term has been avoided owing to its strong sexuality to polite the English. Cunt is the implication of Oriental goddess in Sanskrit Kunti, Kundra or Cunti means the Yoni of the universe (Indian readers please do remember the name Kunti Devi in the great epic Maha baratham). There are various entomology and disputes in it but it simply means the Power of Female or Female Potency. Though we can talk about this more; this much is enough.  So simply saying the cunt symbolizes the female power. Let us keep it in mind and precede our journey to pre historic period.

In Europe,Africa ,America and Australia we can find the Inscriptions of  Cunt- Valva signs in the rock shelters, boulders and stone blocks. In Spain the Vulva signs are painted at Tito Bustillo and finely carved reliefs are available at Roc-Aux-Sorciers in France. The vulva petro glyphs are found in La Ferrrassie in the Dordogne in France. Most of them are carved on stone blocks. One of the carving has sculptured animal head on one side and a high relief vulva on the other side. And one more boulder has a vulva prominently placed under the animal’s belly.

Abrigo do Sol (means Sun Shelter) a Brazilian site, a group of vulva incised rocks tells you a different story. Both sides of the stones have markings and deep gouges, some of which were used for tools sharpening and millings. And others for the animist custom of grinding out rock dust for ritual use. Some of the rock cut vulva have various symbols of solar signs, foot prints etc. According to the Wasusu people these signs are “tokens of the long vanished women’s” (remember the women were the warrior s by that time and they were in memory of that killed warrior women long ago.

One of the ancient rock shelters in Australia has varieties of deeply engraved vulvas.  A thick cluster of vulvas has engraved on the rock faces in California. In Northeastern Thailand Vulvas are scooped out of the stone in a cave painted in vivid crimson, they appear among the myriads of shapes and lines. The Mesolithic period rounded vulvas encircled by concentric circles appear on a rock wall in the South west China as a Imprints of the maternal worship. In a rock wall in Algeria depict a woman lifting her arms in a ceremonial stand; a line is drawn from her vulva to a hunter raising a bow and arrow. In Easter Island vulvas are superimposed on bird man petro glyphs at the ceremonial centre, and the vulva motif is the single most prevalent design on the Easter Island.  More than 500 were recorded.

In Bolivia a deeply carved around thirty vulvas are there and people s offer respect to the Salt mother before taking holy bath in the water. In the Cave of the Holy Spirit, the vulvas, lines and animals are painted and people maintain the sacredness even now.

In Nilachal Hill in Assam there is one famous shrine of vulva in the cave of Kamakhya. It is famous all over North India as a Devi Pitham where the yoni of Shakthi devi fell to the earth. Inside the grotto, a natural stone vulva is watered by a spring. During the monsoon the rainwater flush through and the water turns to red   symbolizes the menstruation of the women. Inside the cave the men are forbidden and the women celebrate the mysteries; dance to the drums and blowing the conch until the power of the Shakthi Devi descends in the middle.

In the Neolithic period the free standing sculptures were made. The most adorned one is a curvilinear vulva and another fish faced woman placing a claw like hands beside her vulva with the traces of red ochre.

                                                                                                                                 (  to be continue...)

Who Conquered Mount Everest First? Part.II

In the in 1960s, climbers were able to assemble a permanent ladder into the rock of the Second Step. But the notion that Mallory and Irvine couldn’t have mounted the Step has been disapproved; It has since been scaled by human power alone once when the ladder was broken, another time in 1999 by the climber investigating Mallory’s climb. So the door stays open to speculation that extraordinary will might have carried the men to the top.

In 1975, a Chinese climber kindled hopes that the mystery might be solved. He reported in broken English that at 27,000 feet he had found an “English Dead,” whose clothing disintegrated when touched. About 750 feet above the body, another climber had found Irvin’s ice ax, and several mountain climbers speculated that the corpse might be Irvine’s body. The climber who claimed to have found the body could not pinpoint its location – an expedition would be needed to relocate it.

In late April of 1999, a crew called the Mallory and Irvine Research Expedition began their climb up the north side of Everest with two objectives: to locate the body seem by the Chinese climber and to reach the mountain’s summit. On May 2, climber Conrad Acker set off from the approximate point of the 1975 Chinese camp site, at 25,700 feet.

He found several bodies in his search that morning, but their clothing and equipment indicated they were from recent times.  But after climbing a section of rock near Everest’s Camp VI, Acker looked to the west and “saw a patch of White… and went there. And within a few minutes…. I realized that this was not a body from recent times; it was something that had been there quite a while.” At first the members of the expedition thought Acker had found Irvine, but then the monogrammed handkerchief of George Leigh Mallory was discovered in the man’s pocket.

The legend had been found, and Irvine has yet to show up. Nothing in Mallory’s possession revealed whether had made it to the summit. Notes found in his pockets were illegible, and it could not be determined whether the fall he appears to have suffered came while going up to the summit or on his way down.

Who Conquered Mount Everest First? Part.I

Sir Edmund Hillary gets the credit, but could a Cambridge professor have been first to reach the Himalayan Summit?  – A mystery must be solved.

Geologist Noel Odell looked up near the summit of Mount Everest at about1 P.M.  on June, 1924, and saw two distant figures he knew; the 38 years old Welshman George Leigh Mallory and his 23 years old assistant, Sandy Irvine. Mallory, a Cambridge professor and a veteran of two other attempts at the summit, was a man of remarkable courage and daring; it was he who replied famously to the question of why he kept trying to climb Everest; “Because it is there” Irvine, who had no previous experience climbing at high altitudes, was strong, handsome Oxford student and an expert in the operation of oxygen tanks. When Odell spied the men at 1PM working their way up a section of the mountain’s difficult North Slope, higher than anyone had ever gone before, he thought they would reach the summit, making them the first men ever to ascend the 29,000 foot peak. Not long after this sighting, however, clouds concealed the men. They were never seen alive again.

Mallory and Ruth
More than three quarters of a century after the 1924 expedition, the question still remains: Did Mallory and Irvine manage to conquer the world’s highest mountain, 29 years before the first acknowledged ascent of the summit by Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tenzing Norgay?
When Odell last spotted Mallory and Irvine they were trying to climb an area that has since become known as the Second Step- a difficult, 300 foot high wall of rock at about 28,000 feet. For a climber scaling Everest on the north side, as Mallory and Irvine were, there is no feasible way to reach the summit without surmounting this difficult rock outcrop. In addition, the men were burdened with oxygen tanks that weighed about 30 pounds. And the layers of wool clothing that Mallory and Irvine wore to keep warm were considerably heavier than the garb available to later climbers.
Mallory and Irvine

Several Experts have contended that it would have been impossible for Mallory and Irvine to ascend the out crop by virtue of their own strength alone. The first group to complete Mallory’s route up the mountain Chinese expeditionary force in 1960was able to mount the second step only by taking their boots off and standing on each other's shoulders an effort that resulted in severe frostbite for a number of the climbers.
